50 Cent Liquid Diet May Not Be The Safest Weight Loss Recipe

Update: I’ve been receiving more and more questions about 50 Cent weight loss, liquid diets, and workout routines. Many people also keep asking me what diet and workout plans I’ve been following. So I’ve decided to add a quick list and some notes regarding some of the fat loss programs I can recommend without any hesitation. See the end of this article.

Skinny 50 Cent photos …

Am I the only one who thinks he is not only skinny, but also scary?


50 Cent has really shocked me (and millions of others) by posting his skeletal images on his Twitter account and website. He lost 54 pounds, dropping to 160 from 214 pounds, in 9 weeks and he also lost six inches from his waist.

Without going into dull details of why he would have wanted to do this to himself, let me inform you that no, he is not doing drugs and no, he is not suffering from some deadly sickness. 50 Cent dropped lots of pounds in a short amount of time and it’s all for a movie role. In an upcoming movie called Things Fall Apart, 50 plays a cancer patient. Not everything in life have to be personal, but this time he is taking this highly seriously because the movie is inspired by the real story of 50’s one friend who died of cancer. So, 50 looks scary and horrible, as that’s the point.

Respect to 50 Cent since he is (over)doing this for artistic purposes and as a memorial to his late friend, but his weight loss methods sound a bit… dangerous. Losing that much of weight, in 9 weeks, by liquid dieting and walking daily on a treadmill for up to three hours? (Need a doctor?). I have no doubt that he will put the pounds back on and get his muscular body back soon. He’s got all the (expensive?) tools that can help him get in shape in no time. (According to news reports, he had already gained back more than 40 pounds.)

It is no secret that weight loss methods that celebrities use often result in fad diets. Sometimes these diets work and sometimes don’t. We’ve been alerted and adviced by medical experts that some of these fad diets are deadly dangerous that they should not be tried at home. In 50 Cent’s case, experts repeat the advice as they think his case is the extreme and his diet methods should be avoided.


Losing over 50 pounds in 9 weeks is possible if you set your goals right and take action. Nothing is impossible for us human beings, right? But remember this golden rule: Just because you can does not mean you should! You want to get in shape, look hot and sexy, be a healthy role model. That’s your main weight loss goal in the first place. You are not preparing for a movie role, aiming for Oscar.

Before deciding what weight loss methods you’ll follow, make sure that it is going to produce a long last result. A balanced diet and moderate regular exercise may take time to get you the figure you wanted, but it will gently get you toned up, and keep the weight off for good. When you follow a crash diet plan which is paired with an extreme exercise routine, there appears to be a rapid weight loss, creating an illusion that the plan is working properly. At this point, no fat has been lost; what happened is that the body’s limited store of glycogen, a form of carbohydrate, is used up. As glycogen is utilized, the body loses water with it, so there appears to be a rapid weight loss.

Liquid diets are mainly for spesific health issues, not for weight loss. There are several liquid diet types and the classic one would tell you to have two meals a day with a shake or drink and the third should be a nutrient rich meal. Most liquid diets are very low in calories – like 1200 calories per day. Liquid diets attract people because these allow them have a sweet drink, also very little meal planning is involved and in the first few days, weight can be lost quickly. The main problem is these diets do not teach people healthy eating habits and do not provide a maintenance plan. Once you return to eating solid foods, weight is likely to return. In addition, these drinks do not contain phytochemicals, which have natural disease prevention properties and are found in foods.


Think about it – when making major dietary changes, you want to get the most out of your calories. Wouldn’t you rather fill up, rather than drink something and be hungry again soon after? Use liquids to pimp your diet plan, do not plan your diet around them (unless it’s recommended by a personal trainer or a medical advisor who monitors your system religiously).

My final thoughts… It was really shocking to see skinny 50 Cent photos all over the place – at first, I confused him with Dave Chappelle… But it was even more shocking to get asked by so many people where they could find the liquid diet 50 Cent used to lose all these weight! I repeat it again… You want to get in shape, look hot and sexy, be a healthy role model. You do not want to feel dizzy, tired, and fatigued or look sick! Eat smart, move smart and you’ll get better (long-term) results.

  1. I like 50 cent before…I’m 26 years old and currently weigh 198lbs and I originally weigh 137, had a baby put on about 40lbs after that and now 2 years later I’m 198lbs. I’m struggling with losing 50lbs. And I don’t down food or junk all day…I drink lots of soda and I barely have a appetite. I was told that when you barely eat anything you body goes into starvation mode because eyour body does not know when it will get it’s next meal! Puzzle me but it made sense. I recently got married and do not want my new husband looking at smaller attractive womens, but in no way will I put my life at risk for 50lbs. I understand 50 cent reasons but it’s very dangerous and I hope he gain his weight back he had a slammin body.

    I’m pretty sure that 50 will get his body back sooner or later (thanks to pro chefs, top personal trainers, medical advisors he can easily afford to hire), most celebrities do. But in 50’s case it may be harder this time because he lost too much muscle weight.

    What you’ve heard about starvation mode is true. When we start eating less food, our body thinks we are experiencing a famine so it slows down our metabolism. It wants to keep as much fat as possible against an uncertain future. Weird eh? (By eating the right foods, you will reassure your body that you are not starving, there is no problem.)

    Losing 50lbs is highly possible if you follow a proper diet plan and an exercise routine. It needs dedication and discipline but doable. Actually, there’s no need to carry all of those extra pounds! You can get lots of info and ideas browsing our site.

    Anyone aiming to lose more than 20 pounds should consider calorie balancing (or calorie shifting). Drinking lots of soda? Why not drinking pure water instead? All kind of soft drink, juices, sodas should be consumed in moderation. Flavor of soda makes it easy to be consumed so you may be over-drinking without being aware of it!

  5. Kisha, I’ve changed my approach to food some years ago and never looked back! I was in need of a lifestyle change. I didn’t want to live the rest of my precious life as a couch potato. I was sooo mad at myself and all. I’ve been using several pre-designed fat loss and maintenance plans, and workout programs. The key is to follow a nutritious diet plan… You can walk 15-30 minutes every day on a treadmill, but I highly recommend you have recovery days, so 4 days a week is good.

  7. Hello. I am a 20 year old male, approx. 6 foot 5 inches tall and weigh about 330 pounds. I desperately want to lose weight (my goal is to be 300 pounds or less by the end of the summer). One of my biggest weaknesses though are salty, savoury home cooked meals and fast food/junk food. I don’t eat many vegitables, not that I don’t like them, I would just prefer a McDonalds cheeseburger or a bag of chips over a carrot or celery or a salad. As well I am a smoker, and do not exercise on a regular basis and have recently discovered I am in need of some desperate help in all catagories of my health. Any diet tips to help me kick off my weight loss in the right direction? Possibly any recipies to try out? I love cooking at home. Thanks.

    I weighed the exact same and I am 26 as well, 50 cent body is totally different than ours, first he is all muscle, when you put your body in stravation mode the body does everything it can to stay alive. It will hold on to the fat longer and make it 100 times harder to lose weight. I have been studying 50 cents diet ever since I saw the pictures. I too wanted to do the liquid diet, but the more i think about it the more i realize how unsafe it is.

    Secondly stop drinking soda, even diet. Once you stop you will drop a minium of 7 lbs i had to do it twice and both times it happened. There is no easy way out of weight loss you need to eat healthy and work out. Buy a treadmill and replace meals with protein shakes. but dont cut out food with soda… I gained all my weigh during medical school. lack of working out and not paying attention to my diet.

    I hope this helps. Liquid diet doesnt work for over weight, females period. Our body is different than 50 cents’ body. As much as we are like males in everything else but with weight loss we are different.

    I can relate to this. I’ve been a fat loss enthusiast since my teen years (those teen years and your 20s were supposed the best times of your life, right? But not for me, because I was ‘overweight’). I’ve done anything I could to educate myself about anything related to my body functions, fat loss, diets, eating healthy etc. (Doing so, I’ve become a certified nutrition expert…)

    It’s all about healthy eating and physical activity, but it all starts with right mindset, right tricks and motivation.

    Losing the weight is hard, keeping it off sometimes is even harder. Your whole weight loss plan needs to have purpose. Have reasons why and write those reasons down. For example your reason maybe that you do not want to be a burden to your family. Make a list of those reasons. (This tip may sound a bit ‘childish’ or … I don’t know … but it works like charm!)

    Get feedback. Have a family member or a friend that you can talk to and can even exercise with.

    Most people that claim they have tried everything, have not tried everything properly.

    Just a few ideas to get you started:

    1. Drink lots of water. When the body is dehydrated, it does its best to retain water. Another tip: Drinking a glass of water fifteen minutes before eating will make you feel more full, which means you’ll eat less.

    2. Consume fewer calories than you burn each day. You’ll be doing yourself a huge favor by keeping track of what you eat.

    3. Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day.

    4. Eat healthy snacks. Instead of cutting out snacks altogether, try to find healthy substitutes.

    5. Don’t skip meals. It’s hard to make healthy eating choices when you feel like you’re starving.

  10. It was easy for 50 to lose the weight in 9 weeks because his body was made up of mostly muscle! Steroid infused muscles!!! The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn! Muscle gained with steroid use will have to be maintained or it is quickly lost. Hence why he lost weight so quickly and now looks like this. He had hardly any body fat on him to begin with, he lost all his fake steroid muscle mass and probably just 10lbs of body fat. I would not recommend anyone really try a liquid diet. You will be starving and once you do go back to eating regular foods you will put ALL the weight back on just as quickly as it fell off. Get 5 meals a day, small portions and excerise, that is the trick! EAT VERY CLEAN!! Drink water, eat greens, lean proteins, proper portions, no snacking, no junk, low carbs (during morning or early afternoon only) and you must excerise and weight train. Use supplements to repair your body and boost results.

  12. You are doing a good job here Ewan, very cool article. Too bad most people still don’t understand what happens to their body when they eat fast food and sugar. They just want to lose weight, no matter how. They just want the magic pill hah
    So you think they won’t try dangerous diets? Good luck on your mission.

  13. @ Shaznay: I define snacks as junk food. Should of been more clear on my definition. But yes, do incorporate “Nutritious” snacks into your diet. Take nutritious snacks from home to eat at school, at work, or to eat on the go. This helps reduce your temptation to buy less nutritious snacks. Avoid snacks that may be high in calories, fat, sugar or salt (sodium). This includes buttered popcorn, cakes, candies, chips, chocolate, cookies, doughnuts, French fries, granola bars, ice cream, pastries and sugary beverages such as fruit flavored drinks, soft drinks, sports drinks and energy drinks. These foods can add extra calories to your day.

    If your a chocolate freak like me, eat DARK chocolate. Packed with natural antioxidants, dark chocolate and cocoa sit in the same good-for-you category as green tea and blueberries. That’s because chocolate comes from cacao beans, which grow on the cacao tree and are full of natural plant nutrients.   20. Honestly this book has completely changed the way I look at food, I look at it as nourishment and I want the most pure untainted food to go into my body. Now when I look at processed items or things with aspertame I just think chemicals and that it will harm my body. So this book is very helpful to learn how to eat healthy on a whole new level, the peace of mind is a wonderful result but the physical result is also amazing. I have been following her guidelines for 2 weeks now and see amazing results and I just feel so pure and healthy, knowing my body has clean energy to burn off.
